JINGS Ah'm drookit! It PISSED down when I did the laundry then settled to that dampness in the air that keeps the moist, wet.... So, I tumbledried. except the trousers which get spin only. Then as I put the paint on the ceiling we had glorious sunshine. Current Mood: grumblin' | | Sunday, July 6th, 2008 | | 11:58 pm |
T'was the pork it was that fried.... Well? The pork turned out to have a 9 July date on it so Sister griddled it on the George Foreman and all was well. The cod was donated to a neighbour (to sisters annoyance) so all that is left is the meatballs. Sis & Co came over to use the shower, so I had to clear the junk out from the cubicle and put the panels over the tank cupboard.... While they did that I cut the long bits from the wardrobe to fit in back of the car... where quite a few bits are at the moment I might add, I missed the local recycler but we have a skip at work, too..... I used the dustbin as an impromptu sawing horse and proptly sliced off a wing with the bloody jigsaw..... bits of black plastic over the floor like mouseshit. There is a big fat mouse laughing at me in Mum's kitchen... I have two traps down which fatty ignores.. I seen the little git... Anyway after they had gone I set to with the "Brownstone" and I have ¾ of the ceiling done now. Need to do the woodwork then move furniture I suppose..... Current Mood: melancholy | | 11:20 am |
Before the botulism kicks in You know, I did enjoy the smell of the sea at Southwold yesterday.... I can enjoy just reclining on a chair on the beach... Ah! The tang of the salt sea air, with the breakers in your wake! **SPLORCH** Ah, Neddie - forgot to tell you - NEVER THROW INTO THE WIND? Current Mood: nostalgic | | 11:02 am |
Good Mornin' world it's a brand new day.... Zip a dee doo dah zip a dee day now I gots me some bills for to pay gotta get cash fo' to fritter away why so much month for so little damn pay? Do you know how many tumble cycles it takes to get blueboid shit off'n yo' shoulder? Sorry folks, when I left work on Friday I got given some leftover watermelon by my boss. Man, dat stuff sho' am good after paintin'! Actually it's rather nice any time and very very refreshing. And at £2 for a whole watermelon in the market (dat's a whole fo' dollars) it's not too dear. Well well well. Just got my stinkin' carcass out of bed and wasted an hour on the pooter. Got laundry to do, cash to get out and I hope the PayPoint supermarket has opened so's I can pay that bill from yesterday. It's windy and clouding over so I don't know whether I'll be able to hang out the washing on the Siegfried or any other line today. Might have to take a tumble. Anyone fancy a tumble with a tired old jackass? Haven't see His Mogness yet today, he cleared his plate (where we get the phrase polish it off) last night but he'll be waiting upstairs for me, I guess. Now! What shall we eat today? I have meatballs and pork loins bought on the First of the month and in the fridgy all week, and a portion of cod and chips avec gherkin pickle bought last night and in the fridge since before bloggin' last night. What do you think readers? Pork? Meatballs? Cod & Gherkin? All three? What's most likely to have me clutchin' me tum tomorrow? Or racing Crappers Rocket all night? The pork cost me £7+ so I may well take my chances with frying that into briquettes and crunchin' em later. What is it about sad lonely fat bald old men that they eat such godsawful things? Some would call it a failure To get a task done, you have to keep pegging at it. No pegging today I'm sorry to say..... I was up late last night (as now!) on t'Web. Woke this morning at about 5:30 realised (Thank GOD!) it's Saturday and turned over.... duh... got up 10am. Made tea and used a bottle of instant Pancake mix from Easter.... supposed to use 1/8 bottle per pancake, ended up with 3 pancakes from the bottle and they were interesting.... at 12:30 (water rates still unpaid) got Sis, BroInLaw and Niece off to the Manna Caff (next on October) where we had a good feed and also got two takeaways for Sis and Niece to eat tomorrow. 2:30 pm and they decided to go to the sea "well if you WANT you can paint" Took least resistance. Went in the van to the sea. We went to Southwold and stayed a spell.... left as it was getting dark and went looking for fish and chips, which we found at our old stamping grounds in Jaywick Sands.... by the Three Jays pub there's a fish and chippy that Mum used to like when they did a Wed Pensioners Special.... Ordered 3 cod one plaice and chips (and gherkin accompaniments) BEFORE they realised this place fries with GROUNDNUT OIL. Great quality but Niece can't touch on pain of anaphylactic shock... So she had Chinese from the shop next door. She enjoyed and so did we. The plaice was fantastic, the batter crisp and delightful, the chips great... Then home. we arrived at 11:50pm and I've been surfing since. Bloody cat has disturbed a nest of flea eggs I reckon.... he doesn't go out so where else can the biteys be coming from? They are cat fleas all right... I've caught 2 in sellotape (the only way - holds em in their tracks) Ah well Laundry tomorrow and those bloody water rates..... etc etc etc Current Mood: well feddy going beddy | | Saturday, July 5th, 2008 | | 2:20 am |
My name is Arcaton and I'm a webstrip addict. I started at a quarter past midnight and I really should go to bed. Tonight - I started putting "Brownstone" on the ceiling but it won't do overall. Perhaps a border on the ceiling with a central square of Magnolia? Also "Brown Sugar" isn't really dark enough. Current Mood: creative | | Friday, July 4th, 2008 | | 5:49 pm |
Oh-ho Say can you see..... Happy Independence Day to all my American friends! Chill out and enjoy....... me I gots more paintin' to do. Current Mood: bouncy | | 3:02 pm |
Happy Birthday National Health Service - 60 years young! One of the few good things to come from Labour - They served my Mum well enough in her final days, and certainly my family would be shorter by a few members were it not for the NHS because we couldn't afford private to the level needed to prevent those family NDE's becoming full passings on..... at least 3 saved. (Tough luck on losing Dad in the early '60's, but can't win 'em all and a high pain threshold distorts the assessments....) Here's to the NHS, the envy of the world, and all those who serve it it! and in passing, since the NHS takes the biscuit... http://www.biscuit.org.uk/index.htm Current Mood: cheerful | | Thursday, July 3rd, 2008 | | 11:59 pm |
Today.... That little bit of magnolia in the bedroom doubled up and a portion of the brown placed next to it. I don't think the brown is dark enough for emphasis - original plan was all 4 walls that colour and dark chocolate brown for woodwork.... now it's mainly magnolia, with that one wall for emphasis. But it's like smearing the wall with melted milk chocolate... or worse.... And magnolia is so damn close to dead white.... SOD MY SHITTY TYPING EVERY BLOODY ENTRY NEEDS EDITING AAAAARG. Current Mood: tired | | Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 | | 11:41 pm |
Get that lazy git out of bed and off to work Believe it or not those were almost my Mums last words..... Well, I forced m'self... the last bedroom bit I did Magnolia has been double coated and a little bit in the far corner first coated. I now need to shift a power of furniture to continue..... Gonna "Mr Muscle" gloss paint before slapping any more on though..... The woodwork isn't clean and neither (in truth) was the wallpaper probably. How is magnolia going to suit the choc brown wood? Good question - I originally was going to do all walls "Brown Sugar"........ Current Mood: painty | | Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 | | 11:04 pm |
pig on pig Sod it, that's the last one gone..... Current Mood: bored | | 10:33 pm |
Homer Loan.... Got some pork loins on the way home since I suspect Sis & Co would like some meat.... In to Farrago's as usual, smell of paint disappeared when I went into the sitting room where the fags again take prominence (phew....are No6?) I suspect if I launder the curtains it might cut the pong, I have some stuff for the carpet BUT accessing that with the crates everywhere.... The red paint in the bathroom leaves me with a quandary. The paint was thickish and the brush hardish, and what has happened is that because I put it on a coat of matt magnolia, it has a "grained" effect which is actually quite attractive.... I put the steps and stirring rod in the front bedroom for the magnolia 2nd coating, but since it was reaching 8 pm, and Desmond Carrington's programme was ending, I decided to head back to Mum's because Sister and BroInLaw and Neice would be back and waiting. They weren't, they'd got invited to a feed and I was on my tod. I had 2 large packs of pork and only room for one in the fridge. The cheaper (non British) £5 pack was starting to bloat, swell so I wasn't going to let it go bad, I got out the new Tefal frying pan and fried it all up; about 900gm / 2lbs of pork loin briquettes, about 9 of them... I've eaten them all now bar one, I'll eat that tomorrow (pork'n'porage OK) It's amazing how much FAT comes off the old pork bricks when you fry 'em. LOVELY JUBBLY. I've sworn off surfing anywhere but home now, it's addictive and I need to control myself.... so I've been at it for a couple of hours just now. I shall do the financhicals later, but not today. I have: more "Magnolia" for the bedroom wall, "Tobacco"(?) for the ceiling and choccy brown gloss for the woodwork. The fireplace/bedroom cupboard emphasis wall will be "Brown Sugar". "Dark Red" the new B&Q for the antebathroom woodwork, and some "Red Hot" (I have a pot left) to complete the front room bay window woodwork / "Gentle Yellow" matt for the bay wall and antebathroom wall/rollerblind mount. I have realised that I have enough Crown Solo "Chocolate Brown" to turn Farrago's into a Cadbury's advert! Oh LORD so much painting to do before the racking and the transfer of stuff (books and records) that goeth on the racking. Brutal truth is that I'm fighting on many fronts. Many many fronts. I win a little battle every so often.... But it is a war of attrition. There's the manna caff on Saturday, also got to pay the water rates that day... then the next week, its the rent! Whoopie whoppie dooo. And I'm bloated now on pork loins... mmmmmmmmm pork loins. Current Mood: cranky | | Monday, June 30th, 2008 | | 11:14 pm |
What is this, some festival or something? Sometimes I'll get to Farrago's and won't be able to park close by..... Pain in the arse tha is... tonight I just picked up my copy of SFX and put out the recycling bin. The place smells of gloss paint which is a little better than old cigarettes.... Tomorrow may be different. There is magnolia for the front room!! I got a gloss magnolia for some limited woodwork and a B&Q "Dark Red" to complete my painting. "Hot Red" has been discontinued - I hope it was just a name change I have a small pot and that's it! I need to put a bead of sealant round the skirting at the tray..... I'm knackered, I shall sort the pussercat and sort his tray then it's beddies for me.... Current Mood: sleepy | | 12:56 am |
Saturday night...or afternoon... once more. As everybody won't know, London UndergrounD let buskers work the Tube in a number of approved places. At Leicester Sq I saw a harpist, one Peter Murphy by name, busking and selling his CD PM001 of him playing Celtic Harp. £10 a pop. I bought a copy but had a vague feeling of familiarity; I asked if he had done any others and "no, just the one CD" so I said if I HAD bought it before, I would give it to a friend. Checking my collection - yep, I HAVE IT ALREADY... if I recall correctly I bought it off him at Liverpool St.... Ah well. now to find that friend. Little bits of oddness Yesterday I was clearing bits off the floor in the bedroom under a shelf... what's that? I thought...a piece of cardboard? No, it was an inverted mousetrap, that must have gone off about 6 months ago, been placed and forgotten....picking it up, the rotted remains of its occupant fell apart so got retrieved with paper towel and blackbagged along with the trap....EUGH. Shan't want that again.... You know, I swear that mice in traps get eaten by other mice? Carnivorous little bastards.... Got the laundry done and accosted in the laundry by a rather nice young (compared to yours truly they are all young)girl who reminded me of an occasion several laundry runs ago where the radio was on, I sang ,and she and her friend joined in in perfect time.... Sophia I think she said her name was, having asked mine... but my memory is very hazy, I was thinking on other things...Went to Farragos and finished a half pot of gloss paint in the bathroom. The stuff flowed like treacle; the wood had been coated with magnolia matt first but it beats me how the stuff won't come off the brush but can find its way up the handle to your fingers just FINE. The bathroom red is in place but will probably want a second coat. There is a need for a fair bit of magnolia matt to patch up where the masking tape failed to mask and succeeded in removing paint already there.... What with the late start today and the time spent on the gloss paint (the brush was such a pill I chucked it and the empty paint pot in the rubbish bag rather than cleaning it) at least the laundry had a fair time on the rotary drier in the garden at Farragos.... Came home and I've been in Sister/BroInLaws since about 9pm. More Poirot. Nice Poirot. Series 6 DVD 2.... Need to sort out some Pension stuff... but first need to recall where I put it to begin with. Je me leve I'm up.... woke with the radio at 5am and dozed until 10.30 am, got up and serviced the pussy (OY WHAT TIME D'YE CALL THIS) and was about to dress when a neighbour called.... we've been bookhunting and I need to get m'socks on and do the friggin' laundry. Maybe I can hang it out, it was blowy last night and the sky looks overcast.... every day of pleasure comes with a price. I've had some tea but I haven't had my OATS this morning DAMNIT and I need FOOD. I can hear sounds that might be distant thunder or an event somewhere....whoom, whoom-whoom you get the picture. I have some cake and stale bread downstairs.... This is late rising Arcaton signing off for now..... Current Mood: odd, decidedly odd | | 3:27 am |
Saturday Nights all Right Just got back about half an hour ago.... Saturday was company social day... when the good folkses I work for give us a treat (this normally is about Christmastime but I ain't moanin'....) Also following Ms Jobsworth at the PO last week... I went in the morning to ID m'self with 5 non photo items.... SO! done that thank the Lord... Then away to the Queens Theatre by 1.45 pm for the 2.30 matinee performance of Les Miserables... many folks go more than once to this and it is certainly impressive.... without spoilering the end of Javert was a lovely bit of stagecraft and I was all teary at the end of Jean Valjean.... The sentimental stuff was counterbalanced nicely by the low, low comedy of the innkeeper and his wife ("Master of the House " and the rest of their wonderful stuff). Did I say low comedy? High Vulgarity it was, as crude as a music hall song about bowel movements.... but GLORIOUS! I still was unaware of who Les was and what had upset him though..... At the end shot off home (snagging a McD double cheese burger for £1.19 - OH I CAN HAS CHEEZEBURGER!) Changed to restaurant clobber and back to a posh feedie at the Bank Westminster restaurant near St James' Park. Oh great. BY the time we had finished (ie they were chuckin us out) it was 1am... the Tube had stopped running...I got a N11 to Liverpool St Station (no trains either) and waited for a 149 what never came. So in the event I got a cab, paid for by the company, about 4 mls for £15. Whilst waiting I CAN HAD TWO MORE CHEEZEBURGERS. Not paid for by anyonez except meez. Gotta feed the cat, have a you know what and go to bed. Nighty nighty folks, I'm full o' wine and feelin' fine... Current Mood: pissed I suspect *hic* | | Friday, June 27th, 2008 | | 11:56 pm |
Been a funny old week.... But that, as they say is life. I hope to be getting my act together so much better.....at work and at homes. Glastonbury in the UK, Anthrocon in the US and I can't make either. C'est La vie... Current Mood: content | | 11:44 pm |
Every night something different. Tonight, Oi have been mostly installin' a new light fittin' in Farrago's bath shower room. Instead of the 60W tungsten in a naked Nettle bulkhead fitting. Bastard job. Y'know the instructions never tell you what to do when the fitting turns out to have been held up by a manky woodscrew and .. get this .. a butterfly toggle bolt because the hole got too large. It now has a 11W Energy Saver bulb that just goes in the glass globe - I may need to replace this with a coily coil fluorescent rather than a straight 11W single folded tube... Nowadays there are rules and regs relating to wiring and about all the simple punter can do is replace like with similar... The wiring in Farragos is mainly 1959 and so not even 16th ed IEE regs but thank GOD it was done in PVC so it shouldn't deteriorate. Victorian houses (Farrago's was thrown up in 1897, Diamond Jubilee year) tho' are usually full of odd surprises and a standard wired system I don't expect ever to find. Slow and steady wins the race... or at least reaches the finish line. I have the shards of Wardrobe still to dump on Sunday since Saturday est occupe. Just went in to Sister's and watched a Poirot... and had a glass of Baily's... very warming... Current Mood: tired | | Thursday, June 26th, 2008 | | 11:45 pm |
getting windy out there And I've just had sausage, onion chutney and stuffing sandwiches from Tesco so it's going to be windy in here too..... Current Mood: Farp, farp, farrrrp.... |
